For Windows v2.1

A place for files to wait, and a fast way to pass them on.

DropDock sits at the edge of your screen. Park files and links there, drag them into any app, hand them to a computer across the room, or send a link that expires in 24 hours.

Most file tools pick one distance.

Cloud drives are built for anywhere. So when the person who needs your file sits two desks away, it still goes up to a server and all the way back down.

    1. 1Upload the file
    2. 2Wait for it to sync
    3. 3Send the link
    4. 4They download it again
DropDock sends it straight across the room.

    One dock,
    three distances.

    1/3 On your screen

    Hold

Park files and links while you work, then drag them straight into any app that accepts them. Premiere, Figma, a browser upload page.

    2/3 In the room

    Share nearby

Pass files directly to devices on the same Wi-Fi, protected by a PIN. Other DropDock users nearby show up on their own. Nothing goes through a server.

    3/3 Anywhere

    Send by link

Upload a file and copy a download link that expires after 24 hours. Your dock syncs across your own devices too.

Files stay on your computer until you choose to pass them on. Sharing nearby never touches a server.

    How it is built.

    • Local first

Files stay on your computer until you choose to share them. Sharing nearby never goes through a server.

    • Your cloud, your choice

Cloud is optional. When you use it, files will be able to go to storage you already own and control.

    • Fits the task

The interface is being redesigned to adapt to what you are doing, whether that is a quick hand-off, a shared office dock or a pinboard.

A native Windows desktop app built with Electron. Local sharing and discovery use only Node.js built-in networking.

    Questions.

A lightweight file dock for Windows. It opens at the edge of your screen when you drag a file there, holds files and links for as long as you need, and lets you pass them on to another app, a computer nearby, or anyone by link.

Yes. Holding files and sharing them over your local Wi-Fi need no internet connection. Bluetooth sharing, for places with no network at all, is in development.

No. Local sharing and discovery use Node.js built-in networking directly between devices, with no third party services in the path.

Only people on the same Wi-Fi who have the PIN shown on your dock. They open it in any browser, so they do not need DropDock installed.

A download link expires 24 hours after you create it. After that the link stops working on its own.

Not yet. Connecting the cloud storage your business already uses is in development, so files can stay in storage you own and control.

The app runs on Windows. People you share with nearby only need a browser, so they can be on any device.
